According to Andy Martino of SNY, the New York Mets have “had dialogue” with the Houston Astros regarding a trade for shortstop Carlos Correa.
Martino adds that a deal like this could happen because of Correa’s expensive arbitration years coming up.
But it’s a deal that’s not expected to happen at the Winter Meetings, rather, at some point later in the offseason.
Correa, 25, played in just 75 games last season for the Astros, but when he did play, he performed at a high level.
The star shortstop registered an fWAR of 3.
