From a public relations standpoint, the team called it a resignation. We now know better. At that time, many openly questioned whether the New York Giants had made the right move. Many folks thought that the team let the wrong guy go, and that general manager Jerry Reese was the real culprit in the decline of the franchise.
As everyone saw this past season, those who thought Reese was the problem, were likely proven correct. Let’s face it, Big Blue’s drafts, save for Odell Beckham, have been pedestrian to poor for a while now.
Ironically, it seems that the underpinnings of Reese’s termination were actually set in place when the team won Super Bowl XLVI.
