The former CFL All-Star started 13 games for the New York Giants last season and now will look to earn a roster spot with the Minnesota Vikings. Big Blue traded the 27-year-old on Sunday for an undisclosed draft pick.
The news comes somewhat of a surprise given Jones’ play last season. However, the Giants coaching staff clearly believes in Jon Halapio, who has been the team’s first-string center for all of training camp and the preseason.
The Giants will reportedly receive a 2019 seventh-round draft pick for Jones, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
