The New York Giants have their starting running back already in Saquon Barkley, but they may need someone to do his laundry. Ex-Cowboy, Rod Smith, seems to fit the bill.
Smith had a troublesome 2018 campaign, averaging just 2.9 yards-per-carry. However, he had a solid 2017 season averaging 4.2 yards-per-carry.
This signing is meant to find a solid depth piece for the Giants in case either Barkley goes down knock on wood or they are looking to give him a break at times. They currently have Wayne Gallman as the primary option behind Barkley, a player that showed decent abilities in two seasons but never made it to the starting level.
