Normally when you hear about players’ cleats anymore it’s because they have some bright and fun (or garish, depending on your point of view) design on them, and the NFL is fining them for it. Or occasionally it’s something that actually matters for the game of football, like the shoe became untied or the cleats themselves are too long or short for the field conditions.
But most of the time what we hear about are players getting in trouble for the designs on their shoes.
Not this week, though.
This week the NFL’s “My Cause, My Cleats” campaign invites players to wear custom cleats that represent causes that are close to their hearts, and use social media to explain the stories behind them.
