While it’s understandable, as a health reason, not to have Odell Beckham Jr. return every kick and punt for the New York Giants, there are some situations that call for him to rise to the occasion.
With less than a minute remaining in Sunday’s game vs the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Giants sent Kaelin Clay (who?) to return a 4th down punt.
He muffed it – and the Jags recovered it, ending the game.
Why wasn’t Beckham Jr., one of the most dangerous ball carriers in football, back to return it instead?
Well, head coach Pat Shurmur told the media on Monday that they didn’t have Odell returning that punt because they were going for the punt block.
