HILLSIDE — Instead of handling a pigskin, members of the New York Giants football team Tuesday were passing turkeys at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
The professional athletes helped unload 1,500 turkeys and draw attention to the issue of people in need of food in New Jersey.
"Hunger is a huge issue and especially at this time of the year. It's important to give back," said Giant long snapper Zak DeOssie.
The turkeys were donated by Stop & Shop supermarkets as part the company's outreach program.
"We sort of want to put the spotlight on this.
