With the New York Giants traveling to Tampa Bay without Cody Latimer this Sunday, they will have to rely on rookie Darius Slayton to pick up the slack. Latimer, who was acting as the No. 2 wideout in the absence of Golden Tate, suffered a concussion last week against the Buffalo Bills.
Latimer is a solid pass catcher that runs smooth routes and can act as a deep threat, but Slayton has the elite speed to make things happen in the open field. Despite only catching one pass for 27 yards this preseason, spending a majority of his offseason on the sideline with a hamstring injury, Slayton will make his NFL debut on the same day rookie passer Daniel Jones makes his first NFL start,
Expect the Giants to use Slayton at about 50%, just as a precaution to ensure he doesn’t re-injure the hamstring.
