Solder first injured the ankle last year during training camp as a result of a brawl between then rookie guard Will Hernandez and veteran nose tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison.
While the procedure is considered to be minor at the moment, Solder will be sidelined through OTAs’ and June’s mandatory minicamp, per NFL Network.
This ankle injury was arguably the reason Solder struggled out of the gate for the Giants during their 1-7 start to 2018. The left tackle would ultimately bounce back to post an overall PFF grade of 74.1.
Solder was the center piece in the New York Giants two-year offensive line makeover and will be relied upon heavily to protect quarterback Eli Manning‘s blindspot this season.
