That night, the New York Giants found out that their new defensive back was seriously injured in a shooting that left teammate Dwane Simmons dead in Topeka, Kansas. Ballentine is expected to make a full recovery, but it’s unknown at this point how his injuries will affect his development with the team.
According to several reports, Ballentine and Simmons were at a house party about four blocks from campus, when gunfire erupted at about 12:45 a.m. Details were still sketchy as of yesterday, as local police were searching for witnesses.
