On Thursday, the Cincinnati Bengals announced that Lou Anarumo had been hired as their defensive coordinator. At the time of his hiring, the veteran coach had served as New York Giants defensive backs coach, under Pat Shurmur.
The 2018 NFL season was his first with Big Blue, after serving a six-season stint with the Miami Dolphins. Anarumo was first hired by Joe Philbin to serve as Miami’s defensive backs coach in 2012, and then kept on by Adam Gase after he was brought on as ‘Phins head coach.
According to Pro Football Reference, Anarumo also briefly served as the Dolphins interim defensive coordinator in 2015, due to a mid-season coaching change.
