Center, right tackle, nickel cornerback, and outside linebacker are just some of the notable position battles going on in training camp. But while many of those competitions will have two or three players competing for a starting role, the New York Giants free safety competition remains wide open.
Through New York’s first four practices, the G-Men have played four different safeties alongside Landon Collins on the first-team defense. Darian Thompson, Andrew Adams, Michael Thomas, and Curtis Riley are all in the mix to start opposite Big Blue’s two-time Pro Bowl strong safety.
Thomas, who is known for being a special teams ace, is excited about the opportunity and believes the competition will only make the team better as a whole, via New York’s team website.
