First of all, traditionally, the New York Giants have not been good with doling out reasonable second contracts with homegrown players. No. 2: The OBJ ship has sailed already for this organization, as far as contracts go. Unless the G-Men pull a rabbit out of a hat, Beckham seems far more likely to get his number than the Giants do.
And unless talks are ongoing, and haven’t been leaked (highly unlikely), there aren’t Beckham extension negotiations going on right now. If discussions were ongoing, we would have heard about them. Count on it.
Perhaps, Beckham does not represent the best example of keeping a productive homegrown player where he belongs – at home.
