New York Giants: Five possible sack leaders

When news originally broke last year of the Giants’ defensive switch to the antiquated 3-4 scheme, I for one was critical. In an era where mainly every offense runs out three receivers, the base defense seems to give a big advantage to the “O”.

While it certainly didn’t produce the results we were looking for in year one, Bettcher showed a creative mix between 3-4 and nickle, often using different disguises to make it hard for opposing teams to tell what was going on, even if there were four linebackers on the field.

That is the allure of a 3-4 defense; keeping your opponent guessing.
