Most fans predicted that the New York Giants would be better than their current record indicates. Much of the early speculation revolved around the idea of addition by subtraction, and that would solve everything. The eliminations of former head coach Ben McAdoo and ex-general manager Jerry Reese, meant the team automatically improves.
In reality, while both McAdoo and Reese are clearly no longer in the picture, neither guy actually played the game on-the-field. Now, we can argue all day long about the effect that a coach has on a club, and that’s a fair argument. Reese’s personnel decisions, well that’s entirely another subject.
