A division rival of the New York Giants has parted ways with their head coach. On Monday, the Washington Redskins announced they fired veteran head coach Jay Gruden. This comes after the team started the 2019 regular season with five straight losses.
Gruden had been in this position for Washington since 2014. He had a 35-49-1 record as their head coach.
The public relations department for the Redskins put out a statement on Monday.
“Through the first five games of the 2019 season, the team has clearly not performed up to expectations, and we all share in that responsibility,” they wrote.
