Both franchises made the playoffs in 2017, but clearly, the New York Giants took a more drastic turn last season. Big Blue posted an 11-5 record in Ben McAdoo’s first season at the helm but quickly fell apart last year, opening the regular season with five straight losses.
New York’s Week 2 loss came at the hands of Lions. Detroit did post their third winning record in four seasons under Jim Caldwell in 2017 but missed the playoffs for the second time during his tenure. Lions general manager Bob Quinn made it clear the franchise is looking for more than just postseason appearances and 9-7 records.
