Thankfully, those days are gone, and the New York Giants maintained solid depth at the position in 2018. All together, Big Blue tight ends, Evan Engram, Rhett Ellison and Scott Simonson caught 89 passes for almost 1,000 receiving yards last year, according to Pro Football Reference.
The tight end receiving corps looks to be in great hands, and that continuity matters, as the G-Men re-signed Simonson on Tuesday. The New Jersey native played his scholastic football at Middletown South high school, before heading to Division II Assumption College in Massachusetts.
It’s the same college that produced the University of Notre Dame’s head football coach Brian Kelly.
