You can’t pay everyone.
With the official start to the offseason creeping up, the New York Giants will have a decision to make regarding defensive tackle, Johnathan Hankins.
Hankins was drafted by the organization in the second-round of the 2013 NFL Draft and has started all 16 games twice in his four seasons with the team, once missing seven games due to a pectoral injury back in 2015.
But here are the facts: Hankins was irrelevant last season.
Pro Football Focus gave him a grade of 47 – good for 73rd at his position.
And even with his play being poor, the Giants were still the league’s third-best unit against the run, which makes one question just how important he really is to Steve Spagnuolo’s defense.
