Defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson was benched for the first quarter of Sunday’s win over the Giants.
The Jets would not disclose the reason, but CBS reported during the game Wilkerson had been late for a meeting.
“It was a coach’s decision,” Jets coach Todd Bowles said. “Obviously, Mo’s one of our best players, and we respect him a lot. It’s something we handled in-house.”
Wilkerson would not say if he was late for a meeting.
“It was a coach’s decision, something in-house. That’s that,” Wilkerson said.
Wilkerson entered the game on the first series of the second quarter and later registered his team-leading ninth sack of the season.
