Mike McCarthy hired by Cowboys to replace Jason Garrett

The Cowboys didn’t waste any time filling Jason Garrett’s job.

Fox Sports reported on Monday that Mike McCarthy will be hired as the team’s next head coach, one day after Garrett was officially fired.

McCarthy met with the Cowboys on Saturday, and had also interviewed with the Giants, Browns and Panthers. McCarthy was fired by the Packers near end of the 2018 season.

McCarthy, 56, went 125-77-2 in nearly 13 seasons as the Packers coach and led the team to the Super Bowl XLV win. He was considered, along with Baylor coach Matt Rhule, a front-runner for the Giants job.
