LT on JPP: “I don’t think the index finger is that important”

Lawrence Taylor wouldn’t let a missing index finger stop him.

“Me, personally? I think I can overcome anything,” Taylor said Sunday afternoon when asked about Jason Pierre-Paul, the Giants’ still missing-in-action defensive end. “You’ve got to play the cards you’re dealt, and then you go from there.

“Me? I don’t like folding. I’m going to play out the hand regardless. I don’t really worry.”

The legendary pass rusher, who was at the Giants’ 24-20 loss to the Falcons at MetLife Stadium for the halftime ceremony to honor the 25th anniversary of Big Blue’s win in Super Bowl XXV, was asked plenty of questions about Pierre-Paul and how his damaged right hand will impact his ability to return to anywhere near the player he was previously.
