The diamond isn't the gridiron; only a few skills translate. Speed, strength and power matter, but they're far from the be-all, end-all. Hand-eye coordination, flexibility and arm strength are much more important in baseball than in football. That eliminates a nice chunk of football players from the baseball pool, and vice versa.
