Kenny Phillips, who was the Giants' first-round pick in 2008 and later their starting safety during the run to Super Bowl XLVI, has retired from the NFL.
Phillips' decision was revealed Wednesday by Inside The U, the 247sports affiliate site covering the University of Miami, his alma mater. The No. 31 pick in the 2008 NFL Draft says his body has simply given out.
"I'd love to still be playing right now, but physically I can't," Phillips told the website, adding that he has "enough aches and pains where I know I can't play football no more.
