CHARLOTTE, N.C. — There were too many to count. But the Giants are counting them anyway and left Sunday’s bitter 33-31 loss to the Panthers absolutely convinced they got hosed by the officials.
“We need better referees, better calls,” cornerback Janoris Jenkins said, over and over again. “We need better referees, better penalty calls.’’
There were at least four moments the Giants believe they were given a bad whistle. They thought they were off the field when a third-down pass by Cam Newton fell incomplete, but cornerback B.W. Webb was called for defensive holding. Livid, Webb went at the official and was hit with an additional 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
