Jason Pierre-Paul was smiling and laughing, making jokes about his amputated right index finger. Somehow, he had adjusted to life following his July 4 fireworks accident in Florida — which also resulted in him losing part of his thumb — faster than the Giants.
While watching the team during his recovery, the Pro Bowl defensive end said it was obvious how much his absence affected the team’s anemic pass rush, which has recorded less sacks (nine) than 30 of 31 other NFL teams.
“I know I could’ve helped my team win some games that they lost,” Pierre-Paul said Friday in his first public comments since the incident.
