EAST RUTHERFORD -- By the time he played his final game as the Panthers' all-time leading rusher, Jonathan Stewart's contract underwent almost as many amendments as the Bill of Rights.
Stewart, who signed a five-year deal worth $36.5 million in 2012, restructured his contract with then-general manager Dave Gettleman in 2013, 2014 and 2017, according to various reports.
In some cases, Stewart received more guaranteed money in exchange for helping the team free up immediate salary cap space. In others, he took a pay cut to stay in his longtime home.
