Jon Beason’s career likely over after Giants shutdown

Tucked in with Saturday’s eye-catching news the Giants were activating Jason Pierre-Paul to the 53-man roster was a housekeeping move that corresponded with Pierre-Paul’s arrival. The Giants put linebacker Jon Beason on season-ending injured reserve because of “injuries to his knee and ankle.’’

A statement from the team went on to say: “He played in five games, making this the second consecutive year the defensive captain’s season has been cut short by injury.’’

What the statement did not say is this likely the end of the line for Beason, a likable, charismatic player whose body has broken down.
