Jon Beason ready to tackle role as Giants on-field leader

Jon Beason bristled at the label ever so slightly, annoyed at the tag that’s trailed him for the last few years of his career. Don’t call him injury-prone, the key to the Giants defense said, because it’s not that simple.

“No,” Beason said Wednesday. “Football is injury-prone. It’s seriously out of your control. When people say this (injuries) happens to one guy or more . . . I just focus on the moment, and enjoying the very next rep. Because that’s all that’s guaranteed.”

And Beason wants as many full-contact reps as possible in this Giants training camp, even if it means undoing all the hard work of his own NFL Players Association.
