Defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins has a torn pectoral muscle, the New York Giants have announced. Hankins is out for the rest of the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, obviously, and could be out for the season.
Hankins was injured in the second quarter when he hit Tampa Bay running back Doug Martin and forced a fumble that Jasper Brinkley of the Giants recovered. The fumble recovery did lead to a Giants' touchdown.
A third-year player drafted in the second round in 2013, Hankins is the Giants' best defensive tackle.
