Johnathan Hankins Injury: Defensive tackle lost for season

Defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins has a torn pectoral muscle and ill be lost for the season, New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin confirmed on Monday. Hankins will have surgery and be placed on Injured Reserve.

Hankins was injured on the first play of the second quarter Sunday when he reached out with his left arm to try and tackle Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin. Hankins succeeded in poking the ball out and creating a fumble that Jasper Brinkley of the Giants recovered, but did not return to the game.
