The Giants’ 0-2 start doesn’t have John Mara panicking, but that doesn’t mean the owner is happy.
And he still is standing by Eli Manning.
“Eli is a talented, talented young guy. He’ll continue to work with his team and get his team improved and get better,” Mara told reporters at Friday’s Tom Coughlin Jay Fund charity event in Midtown, referring to his veteran quarterback being under fire. “Listen: We’re 0-2 for a reason. There’s nothing I can say to defend that. Obviously we’re hoping for a little better.
“We’ll see. It’s a long season.”
Mara also said he is encouraged coach Pat Shurmur can turn this around.
