Jets turn to Giants castoff to fix tight end problem

It made too much sense not to happen. The Jets had a gaping hole at tight end, and Will Tye found himself without a job.

With one move, both problems were settled.

A day after the Giants waived Tye, the Jets claimed the former Stony Brook star, according to ESPN.

The Jets will be without No. 1 tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins for the season’s first two weeks, after he was suspended by the NFL for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. That left rookie Jordan Leggett, Eric Tomlinson and James Vader Laan as options. The latter two sat out the final preseason game with shoulder injuries and are considered fill-ins.
