The Jets, who need help at tight end, claimed ex-Giants tight end Will Tye off waivers on Sunday. The Giants cut him Saturday.
The Jets claiming Tye was first reported by ESPN.
Tye is entering his third NFL season. He joined the Giants as an undrafted rookie in 2015. As a rookie, he had 42 catches for 464 yards and three touchdowns. Last season, he had 48 catches for 395 yards and one touchdown.
The Jets' initial 53-man roster, established Saturday, included three tight ends: rookie Jordan Leggett, Eric Tomlinson, and Jason Vander Laan.
