Jasper Brinkley wants to make one new Giant fight for job

The Giants may have found their new middle linebacker with the addition of Keenan Robinson from the Redskins, but that did not stop further tinkering on defense with Tuesday’s official re-signing of Jasper Brinkley, a one-year deal that was agreed upon two weeks ago.

Brinkley, 30, was picked up by the Giants four days prior to the start of the 2015 season after he was dumped by the Cowboys. He ended up starting the final nine games at middle linebacker, becoming a full-timer after Jon Beason was lost for the season with a knee injury. Brinkley finished third on a poor defense in tackles with 66, behind Landon Collins and Jonathan Casillas.
