With mere days until the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Giants have signed former Cowboys linebacker Jasper Brinkley. The Cowboys cut Brinkley yMonday to make room for a waiver claim, despite signing him to a two-year contract this past off-season. He will retain a good deal of that money -- $2 million in fact -- while earning additional salary from the Giants.
It's likely that the team have signed Brinkley as depth for their middle-linebacker spot after releasing Jameel McClain in the final round of roster cuts this Saturday.
