Jason Pierre-Paul travels to New Jersey for examination by Giants' doctors

Jason Pierre-Paul flew to New Jersey on Monday to be examined by the Giants' team doctors, although it appears uncertain at the moment whether he might join the team for the remainder of the season, according to a source familiar with the team's situation.

Pierre-Paul suffered extensive damage to his right hand in a July 4 fireworks accident. He had the entire index finger amputated, and portions of his thumb and middle finger were removed. He underwent surgery to repair fractures in his thumb, and also required skin grafts.

The Giants and Pierre-Paul have until Nov. 17 to reach a contract agreement.
