“It’s what you would have to call the Coryell offense.”
These were the words spoken by current New York Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett regarding his offensive scheme in the popular Sports Illustrated book “Blood, Sweat, and Chalk.”
A system made famous by former NFL head coach Don Coryell.
An offense he designed to attack defenses down the field with basic route running, plenty of pre-snap motion, and receiver spacing to spread defenses out.
Quarterbacks in the offense have been told to read a defense from deep to short with the goal of always giving the big play a chance.
