Jared Lorenzen threw just eight passes in his Giants career, but he had a role in one of the biggest plays in franchise history.
Lorenzen passed away at 38 on Wednesday and was remembered fondly by the Giants and Eli Manning. NFL Throwback tweeted out a video on Wednesday of Manning talking about David Tyree’s famous helmet catch from Super Bowl XLII. Before Tyree could miraculously pin the ball between his hand and helmet, Manning had to wrestle free of the Patriots’ pass rush. That’s where Lorenzen, Manning’s backup that season and the previous one, comes into play.
