Stephen Baker “The Touchdown Maker” was there in the beginning when Tom Coughlin arrived as the Giants new wide receivers coach in 1988 and began demanding more than the players had been accustomed.
“When he came in, we fought him on everything because it was foreign to us having to learn everything almost like a quarterback,” Baker said Sunday morning. “But when the games started, there was nothing the opponent could throw at us because we were so prepared.”
That level of preparation helped Baker catch a touchdown pass in Super Bowl XXV and it would help the Giants capture two Super Bowls with Coughlin as their head coach.
