Odell Beckham Jr.’s value to the Giants is obvious, as a game-breaking talent who can wreck opposing defenses. But the dynamic third-year wide receiver is important in other ways, too, such as serving as a mentor to rookie cornerback Eli Apple.
“He has taught me how to read routes better, and he will tell me things from a receiver perspective, like what receivers look for and little things like that,” Apple, the Giants’ first-round pick out of Ohio State who has been seeing plenty of first-team reps, said after practice Monday. “He has really been on me and just telling me to trust my talent and get my head around.
