Before this spring, Eugene Monroe was far from a household name. The Plainfield, N.J., native was just a veteran offensive tackle for the Baltimore Ravens, considered one of the better players at his position in the league.
But ever since Monroe emerged publicly as a staunch advocate for medicinal marijuana, pushing for the NFL to re-evaluate its stance on medicinal marijuana, he has become a well-known figure, and a divisive one for many at that.
Monroe is a now a free agent, released Wednesday by the Baltimore Ravens after trade talks with the Giants reportedly fell through.
