This is why players who were deemed worthy of a roster spot, and time on the field, by the previous coaching staff were not going to be safe around the Giants this summer, not with a new general manager (Dave Gettleman) and a new head coach (Pat Shurmur) calling the shots. The early cuts Saturday morning reflected this scenario, with the departures of safety Andrew Adams and wide receiver Roger Lewis.
These are not moves that will reverberate around the NFL and they do not really even register as surprises around the Giants, given the way both players were handled in training camp and in the preseason games.
