According to Nick Korte of OverTheCap.com, Geno Smith’s value as a Compensatory Free Agent is still up in the air.
If he qualifies, then the Giants would gain a fourth-round pick for the loss of Justin Pugh.
Korte states that Smith is right on the “bubble.”
Smith played for the Giants last season, started one game, and later signed with the Los Angeles Chargers this past offseason when he became a free agent.
The Giants had the opportunity to accomplish the task of gaining a fourth-round pick for Pugh if they released Cody Latimer and Michael Thomas before Week 10.
