GM Dave Gettleman leads Giants’ contingent scouting Oregon QB Justin Herbert

The New York Giants were out in full force to scout Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert, the likely first quarterback selected in the 2019 NFL Draft should he declare, on Saturday night.

General manager Dave Gettleman, assistant general manager Kevin Abrams and scout Jeremy Breit were listed on the press box seating chart. Herbert went 20-of-33 for 288 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 32-25 loss to Utah.

The Giants, of course, are 1-7 and have 37-year-old Eli Manning leading a struggling offense. They currently own the first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and their heavy presence at Saturday’s game will only add to the speculation that they will be looking for Manning’s potential successor in that draft.
