Jonathan Stewart's foot is worse off than the hand he was dealt.
Stewart was placed on injured reserve by the Giants, possibly ending a season that has gone even worse than critics suspected when general manager Dave Gettleman overpaid for the services of a 31-year-old running back.
The all-time leading rusher in Panthers history signed a two-year deal worth $6.9 million in March with the salary cap-strapped Giants. It included $3.45 million in guaranteed money, which essentially saved his roster spot during cuts earlier this month.
"Jonathan Stewart's in his 10th year, and he's hardly lost anything," Gettleman said in April.
