Giants will sign ex-Lions defensive end Devin Taylor

The Giants plan to sign veteran defensive end Devin Taylor, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NJ Advance Media. The signing, which should become official Thursday, was first reported by Pro Football Talk. It is expected to be a one-year deal.

Taylor, 27, started 16 games last year for Detroit, but was not re-signed. Taylor had 4.5 sacks in 2016, and has 15 in his career. Taylor posted seven sacks as a reserve rusher in 2015. The 6-foot-7, 266-pound end was a fourth-round pick out of South Carolina in 2013.

The Giants' pass rush was much-improved in 2016, but there remains ample room for improvement.
