Giants will name Ben McAdoo as new head coach

It’s a good bet that John Mara knows Ben McAdoo’s name now.

McAdoo, the Giants offensive coordinator who Mara once said he didn’t know “from Bob McAdoo”, is on the verge of becoming the Giants’ next head coach, according to multiple team and league sources. There was no official announcement from the team, and none was expected on Wednesday night.

However, the 38-year-old McAdoo – who was the favorite from the start – was closing in on a deal to replace Tom Coughlin, the source said, and it could be announced as early as Thursday.

McAdoo was one of six candidates the Giants interviewed and was the only one who came with the strong endorsement of quarterback Eli Manning.
