The New York Giants have announced that they have waived/injured running back Paul Perkins.
Perkins was the Giants’ fifth round pick in the 2016 draft, spending most of that season behind veterans Rashad Jennings and Shane Vereen. Perkins eventually worked his way into a starting role by the end of that season, carrying the ball 112 times for 456 yards (4.1 yards per carry). He entered the 2017 season as the starting running back, with his exciting, agile running style had coaches, observers, and fans alike excited for his prospects. But as the season wore on, he saw his usage dwindle to just 41 carries.
