The Giants have waived defensive end Owa Odighizuwa, the team announced Tuesday.
Odighizuwa was hit with a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances a day earlier.
“It is unfortunate that things have gone in this direction, but we wish nothing but the best for Owa as we all move forward,” general manager Jerry Reese said in a statement.
The Giants selected Odighizuwa in the third round of the 2015 draft. He played in 18 games over two seasons and recorded six combined tackles.
Odighizuwa hinted at stepping away from the game in a series of tweets in April, but he was with the Giants from the start of training camp.
